The Management of Al-Qalam University Katsina, has commended the Chairman of BUA group, Alhaji Abdulsamad Rabiu for donating a N250 million infrastructure development grant to it.

The commendation is contained in a statement issued to newsmen on Friday in Katsina by the University’s Head of Public Affairs, Alhaji Akilu Abubakar.

The university’s spokesperson said that the group gave the grant to the institution through his foundation, Africa Initiative (ASR Africa).

According to him, the Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the university, Prof. Nasiru Musa-Yauri, on behalf of the Katsina Islamic Foundation and other stakeholders made the commendation.

“The Vice-Chancellor has also commended ASR Africa’s support to Nigerian Tertiary Institutions as one of the biggest educational interventions by a non-state actor in Nigeria and the rest of Africa.

“The recently announced ASR Africa infrastructure development grant to 22 tertiary institutions in Nigeria amounts to a total of N5.5 billion.

“Prof. Musa-Yauri expressed optimism that the ASR Africa grants will help to develop the capacity of tertiary institutions and empower them to make meaningful contributions to national development.

“The VC further called on all beneficiaries to reciprocate the invaluable gesture of the philanthropist by putting the grants to good use,” he said.
