Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has advised state  chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) across the country to initiate positive changes that will bring back the party to power in 2019.
Emmanuel gave the advice in Uyo on Wednesday when the chairmen of the PDP state chapters, led by Akwa Ibom chairman, Mr Paul Ekpo, paid him a courtesy visit.
The governor expressed the hope that the meeting of PDP chapter chairmen would be an avenue to strategise on issues that would make the party stronger than before.
He told the chairmen of the state chapters of PDP to evolve ways of repositioning the party for positive impact and also endear it to the electorate.
Emmanuel urged the meeting of the PDP chairmen to discuss extensively on the planned state congresses of the party slated for mid-November this year.
He assured the chapter chairmen of the support of the PDP state governors.
Earlier, Ekpo, who is the chairman, Conference of PDP state Chairmen, said that the two-day meeting of the state chairmen was arranged to brainstorm on ways to move the party forward.
Ekpo said that the meeting was expected to discuss on how to boost the image of the party and enhance its growth.
He explained that the Akwa Ibom meeting of the PDP state chairmen was the first of such gathering outside the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Ekpo noted that the chapter chairmen were appreciative of the development efforts of all the PDP governors in the country.
He pledged the resolve of the chairmen of PDP from all the states to work with the political leadership of the party as reliable partners.
Ekpo said that all his colleagues across the 36 states were ready to serve the party faithfully in order to improve its fortune in the next election.
