Aisha Alhassan steals show as Buhari presides over FEC meeting

Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Aisha Jummai Alhassan, was the cynosure of all eyes at Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the Presidential Council Chamber, Abuja.
Photo journalists swooped on her as she moved from one chair to the other, greeting Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and ministers.
The meeting, which started at 11am, was presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Recently, Aisha Alhassan said in the 2019 presidential election, she would support the aspiration of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, even if Buhari in seeking re-election.
It was learned that Alhassan, on September 7, submitted her resignation letter to the office of the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, following her remarks about the presidential ambition of Atiku.
The minister was quoted in an interview with State House correspondents as saying that she would rather resign as minister than abandon Atiku “if he decides to run for presidential elections in 2019’’
Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State and some chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) had called on Alhassan to resign as minister for declaring that she would not support Buhari in 2019.
“The minister is entitled to her opinion; but I would have saluted her if she had resigned her appointment because she cannot blow hot and cold at the same time,” Amosun said at a book launch in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
