Virile legislation that would impact directly on the citizenry and make life better for the people should be a major concern for the legislative arm of government, rather than mere politicking and being a rubber stamp of the executive, while the masses suffer.
This advice was given by an aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Adeleye Lukman, while picking his nomination form to represent Odogbolu Constituency at the House of Assembly, at the Legacy House, Ogun State Headquarters of the party in Onikolobo, Abeokuta.

Adeleye insisted that any law, which does not have direct bearing on improving the lives of the electorate, was a dis-service to the people, saying, “our people are losing interest in politics and government, as they go through harrowing experience to survive”.

He promised that his State constituency as an agrarian community would witness tremendous developmental supports passed into law if given the opportunity to serve.

In his words: “When righteous people leave power in the hands of mediocre, the innocent suffers. The present representative of our constituency has been doing his best, but it seems the best is not enough for our people.

“This administration has no single project in our constituency, and issues like that are some of the things I have come to address, as our people are fast losing confidence.”

Adeleye, who noted that representing his people was beyond taking up political leadership position, said: “As one of the people who live, eat and sleep together in the same community, I understand their plights, and their pains are my pains, thus the need to go all out to represent them and work better ways of empowering, developing and improving the people and the community”.

He promised not to betray the trust reposed in him, assuring that good education and infrastrucrural development among other things would be pushed for, as a representative of his constituency when elected.

Adeleye said it was time to put Odogbolu State Constituency into reckoning as a border town and a major food basket, which contributes to Ogun State economy.

While handing over the PDP nomination form, the State Secretary, Chief Tolu Bankole, advised the aspirant to continue to work in the interest of the party.
