Activities rebound on NSE as index rises by 0.59%

Activities on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) rebounded on Thursday by 0.59 per cent, after a three-day bearish run caused by sell pressure.
Some blue chip equities posted price appreciation, with Dangote Cement leading the gainers’ chart with N5.80 to close at N219.80 per share.
Flour Mills came second with a gain of N1.36 to close at N28.89, while Total Nigeria grew by N1.11 to close at N228.11 per share.
Zenith International Bank gained 51k to close at N23.01 and Dangote Sugar Refinery added 20k to close at N13 per share.
The All-Share Index increased by 214.20 points or 0.59 per cent to close at 36,316.58 against 36,102.38 posted on Wednesday.
Similarly, the market capitalisation rose by N74 billion or 0.59 per cent to close at N12.517 trillion against N12.443 trillion achieved on Wednesday.
On the other hand, Mobil Oil topped the losers’ chart during the day, declining by N11.84 to close at N225.06 per share.
Nestle trailed with a loss of N10 to close at N1,210 and Guinness shed N2.96 to close at N85 per share.
Nigerian Breweries was down by N1 to close at N184, while Lafarge Africa declined by 50k to close at N58.50 per share.
The volume of shares traded increased marginally to 225.14 million shares valued at N5.48 billion exchanged in 5,110 deals.
This was in contrast with 224.78 million shares worth N5.09 billion achieved in 4,822 deals on Wednesday.
Custodian and Allied Insurance recorded the highest volume of activities for the day, trading 30.30 million shares valued at N115.07 million.
Zenith Bank followed, having accounted for 25.97 million shares worth N597.39 million, while Guaranty Trust Bank traded 24.72 million shares worth N924.82 million.
FBN Holdings exchanged 14.62 million shares valued N87.04 million and FCMB group sold 14.11 million shares worth N15.72 million.
