Nigeria’s human rights community is mourning.
A popular activist and Secretary of the Joint Action Front (JAF), Comrade Abiodun Aremu, is dead. He was killed on Sunday evening by a hit-and-run driver.
The incident happened around 6pm in Ota, Ogun State when he was crossing the road.
The driver fled the scene immediately after knocking him down.
Aremu was rushed to a nearby hospital, where medical personnel battled to save his life, but was later confirmed dead.
