Authorities of the Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) on Monday said that no fewer than 22,000 candidates would write the 2015/2016 Computer Based Test of the post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
YABATECH’s Director, Public Relations Unit, Mr Charles Oni, said in Lagos that over 4,000 candidates would write the examination daily.
The exercise would hold from September 7 to 11.
“The examination would hold in five sessions in some centres and six in others, starting from 9.00 a.m. till evening.
“There are five centres which include, The Petroleum Trust Development Fund (PTDF) Building, Central Laboratory, Digital Laboratory, Electronic Library, and The New Food Technology Building,” Oni said.
The spokesman said that no hitches had been recorded in the conduct of the examination so far, as all hands were on deck to ensure the success of the exercise.
“In terms of power supply, we are not depending on our generator or the Power Distribution Company alone; we had installed inverters, to avoid any disruption,” he said.
A security personnel at the PTDF Centre, said that the conduct of the examination and the attitude of the candidates were, so far, satisfactory.
“The students were here on time and they have been well-behaved; we have not caught anyone with a strange material or questionable character,” he said.
A prospective student of Mass Communication, Miss Deborah Okusola, who sat for the examination from 11.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m., lauded the college’s authorities for the smooth-conduct of the exercise.
“The conduct of the examination was satisfactory. Computers at my centre were adequate and working well.
“There was stable power supply, and the environment was conducive,” she said.
