Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State, was abuzz as supporters of Engr. Prof. M.S. Haruna, OFR, mni (Sarkin Sharifai), held a “one-million-man” mega rally to endorse his 2027 governorship aspirations.

Haruna is a former Executive Vice Chairman of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI).

The metropolitan city was transformed by a sea of supporters—including youths, women, and people living with disabilities—all adorned in branded T-shirts and caps.

According to the clips of the rally released yesterday, participants carried placards with various inscriptions expressing their unwavering support for the Professor’s bid to lead the state.

The energy was felt across every street in Lafia, which was decorated with billboards and posters signaling a broad acceptance of his candidacy.

The event also drew seasoned grassroots politicians from across the Southern Zone, who formally pledged their loyalty to his cause.

The rally culminated at Dunama Primary School, where speakers highlighted the achievements and benefits the state and its youth have gained through the aspirant’s previous contributions.

Supporters at the venue described him as the most qualified candidate to succeed Governor Abdullahi Sule in 2027.

The Convener of the forum, Ibrahim Hamza, who spoke during the expanded meeting of all the stakeholders from the zone in Lafia, said among the numerous aspirants, Haruna is the best that will sustain the legacies of the outgoing governor.

He explained that Haruna has a lot of things in common with the governor as both of them come from rural setting , they have engineering background and similar exposure.

According to him “Governor Sule went to technical school to acquire technical background, and went on to acquire private sector experience which exposed him to the world which make him him to offer that kind of leadership he has given to the Nasarawa State.

“Prof Haruna went to Kaduna Polytechnic and set up the place to what it is today. He went to NASENI to perform wonders. He was the best NASENI boss that ever run the place and he used the position to open up Nasarawa to the world, bringing in a lot of innovations” he siad

He said that if the people of Nasarawa State want continuity of the programmes and policies of Governor Abdullahi Sule, the best person to support him is Haruna because he is the only person with such exposure, background and experience in the private sector as Sule.

He said that, the world today is thriving on technology and if Nasarawa must compete with other states in terms of development, Haruna is the best to sustain the developmental strides of the governor.

The APC chieftain said Haruna will develop other natural resources in the state and attract more investments.

He advised the people of Nasarawa South Senatorial District and the entire people of the state to consider experience, consider Sule’s experience, background, performance and support somebody who has the same characteristics to succeed him and that person is Haruna.
