The Coalition For A Better Nigeria has urged political leaders to monitor their followers to prevent violence before, during and after the 2023 general elections.

Comrade Bamiji Awa, the National Coordinator of the coalition, made the plea in the New Year Message on Monday in Lagos.

Awa said that the coalition, being an umbrella body of youths and students’ organizations within and outside Nigeria projecting APC Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, was committed to peaceful elections.

Calling on politicians to exercise restraints, Awa charged the electorate with Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) to be peaceful while electing new leaders in the forthcoming elections.

” It’s going to be one man, one vote as usual, but we all need to fully cooperate with the law enforcement agencies and the INEC officers to prevent violence, rigging, and assassination in our communities.

“It’s only when we all embrace peace, unity and progress, that we can have peaceful co-existence,” he said.

Awa, who urged Nigerian youths not to be deceived by empty promises of some politicians, said that the APC presidential candidate meant well for them because of his track records.

He said that it would be a betrayal of the principle of fairness and justice for another northerner to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari after eight years tenure in government.

Awa said that the group has been mobilizing Nigerian youths for a clean sweep for Tinubu in 2023.

The coordinator said that preparation was also in top gear to confer on Tinubu the Grand Commander of African Politics on Feb. 14 by coalition.

He said that the event would be held at the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council Headquarters, Abuja, in commemoration of 30th anniversary of June 12 election annulment.

According to him, a target audience of 1, 000 participants are expected to be seated inside the hall, while millions of people across the world will watch the event live on TVC.

“This is to usher in our main man, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, into field of electoral showdown few days to follow. Best of luck to all of us in Nigeria.

“We are seriously looking for a thinker, performer, problem solver, human and physical capacity developer, to be our next President at this crucial period and we have seen all these qualities in the APC Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“Therefore, we must vote wisely. Happy New Year to you all as we celebrate 2023 in peace,” he said.
