Senator Victor Umeh (APGA, Anambra Central), has said that the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has more than 85 per cent chances of winning all the legislative seats in Anambra in 2019.
Umeh said this on Tuesday while addressing members of the state executive committee of the party at the APGA secretariat in Awka, the state capital.
He said that only sabotage by party members could rob the party of electoral victory.
“APGA has more than 85 per cent chances of winning all legislative seats in next year’s elections.
“But we must be vigilant to ensure that APGA wins all the 30 seats in the state assembly, all the house of representative seats and three senatorial seats.
“Our enemies will be APGA members who present themselves as members in the open, but go behind to work for other parties,’’ he said.
Umeh further said that the achievements of Governor Willie Obiano were enough image booster for the party’s candidates for the polls.
He said that what was needed for all the party’s candidates to succeed was unity of purpose among all the members.
He, therefore, warned members to be wary of saboteurs whom, he alleged, had been mobilised by opposition to work against the interest of the party.
According to him, “some of the opposition members have started visiting our members to woo them to work against their party.”
Umeh, who is the immediate past National Chairman of APGA, said that nobody could claim to be working more tirelessly for the party than him.
He, however, said that he would not wish anyone else to relive the ugly experience he had while fighting for the party.
The lawmaker commended the party leadership for working tirelessly in ensuring a landslide victory for APGA during the governorship polls.
He appealed to them not to rest on their oars, saying that the task ahead was enormous.
Umeh underscored the need for the restructuring of Nigeria.
“There is a strong need for whosoever that would win the 2019 presidential election to restructure the country.
“Restructuring of Nigeria has become a common campaign tool by every political party and I feel that this is imperative for the nation to move forward,” he said.
