The Benin audition of Glo-sponsored Reality TV show, “Dance with Peter”, was a hot contest among the over 500 individual dancers and groups who converged at the Oba Akenzua Cultural Centre to vie for the six regional slots for the centre.
At the audition, Nigerian youths demonstrated sublime dancing dexterity, making it extremely complicated for the panel of judges comprising the dance diva, Kaffy, Don Flexx and Dipp who stood in for Peter of Psquare, to select the best 6.
“We had an amazing pool of outstanding talents to choose from”, said Kaffy at the audition.
During the first outing of the contestants, a 10-year old girl, simply identified as Sophia, had a standout performance that earned a resounding “yes” from the judges to proceed to the next level of the audition.
Sophia who displayed stunning stuns for her tender age said that she would give a more spectacular performance when next she came on stage.
“I am happy that I made it to the next stage. I will give everybody here a wow performance when next I come on stage and all of you will say wow, this girl is wonderful”, she enthused.
The primary five pupil of Cherish Montessori Academy, Warri, Delta State, said that if she made it to the final contest in Lagos, “I will do my best to win the prize and use the proceeds to further my education and dancing career”.
Also speaking on their expectations at the audition, a dance group, the Fantastic 4 Dancers, said that the group would do its best and “we very much hope to impress the judges and make it to the Lagos final”.
Another group, The Dance Overflow, led by Eggisohe Akpes, promised “a mind blowing performance to appreciate Globacom for providing this huge platform for us as a group to demonstrate our talents”.
Blessing Ebruphilor, a female dancer at the audition praised Globacom for “consistently supporting Nigerians and for believing in the greatness of this country”, while Mercy Obehi, another female dancer, said that “beyond my desire to qualify for the next stage, I want to give credit to Globacom for organising this youth engagement show. I will forever remember today in my dancing career”. ‎
“Dance with Peter” is a Reality TV show championed by Peter Okoye of PSquare fame and sponsored by Globacom.
The first audition of the show took place in Abuja on August 28, while the second audition was held in Accra, Ghana, on Tuesday, September 2. In the previous two auditions, six dancers were selected and they will join other finalists from Benin, Port Harcourt and Lagos to contest for the star prize of N3m, a brand new Rav4 SUV and a lifetime opportunity to feature in the next video of PSquare.
1st and 2nd runners-up will a Honda Civic car plus N2m and a Kia Rio plus N1m respectively. Both will also have the chance to feature in a Glo ambassador’s music video.
