Three policemen and a tanker driver were killed on Sunday by suspected oil thieves at Oguda, Okene Local Government, Kogi state.
Freedom Online learned that the policemen were killed in a gun battle with the bunkerers. A stray bullet was suspected to have killed the driver.
A source said, acting on a tip off, the policemen stormed the area, a border town between Kogi and Edo states, to stop the illegal activity of the vandals, leading to the gun battle.
“Hours after the gun battle had subsided and other security agents stormed the place, the bodies of the three policemen and the driver were discovered. Some of the vandals may have been killed in the shootout. Security agents are searching the bush to look for more bodies,” he declared.
