Three killed, houses burnt in Nasarawa crisis

The Police in Nasarawa State said on Sunday that three people were killed  while many houses were burnt during a fresh communal crisis in the state.

Commissioner of Police, Mr Shehu Umar, said in Lafia on Sunday  that the clash was between suspected members of Ombatse and Alago groups in Obi Local Government Area.

Shehu also said that the command had drafted a team of security personnel to the area to restore normalcy.

Three persons were killed while many were  injured during the clash, but so many houses that we cannot give account of  for now  were burnt,” he said.

The incident,  which started on Thursday night at  Angwan village, had left the area deserted.

Many of the residents had sought refuge in neighbouring towns.
