pdp_logoA FACTIONAL meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edunabon, Ife North Local Government, Osun State has turned bloody.

One of the members, Kunle Olagoke, was shot dead by rival members.

The 25-year-old Olagoke was killed in a clash of rival factions of the party in the area.

It was learnt that in the build up to the 2014 governorship election, there has been a leadership tussle between the two factions on who to support for the post between two leading aspirants.

Trouble started at the ward meeting held at a primary school when some loyalists of one of the governorship aspirants allegedly stormed the venue of the meeting and insisted that members must support him in the plot to unseat Governor Rauf Aregbesola next year.

But, loyalists of the other governorship aspirant resisted the move, leading to shootings.

Olagoke was among those shot and he died before getting to the hospital.

Immediately, some members of Olagoke’s family stormed houses of supporters of those who killed him and if not for the timely intervention of security agents, their houses would have been burnt.

Security agents are still patrolling the streets to avoid a breakdown of law and order.

To avoid arrest, members of the party in the area have fled their houses.
