Ikpeazu tasks varsity students on hard work, determination


Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has urged students of Abia State University (ABSU) to make a difference in their career through hard work and determination toward their educational pursuit.
Ikpeazu said this on Wednesday while inaugurating the Students’ Union Government (SUG), Secretariat, a 300-bed capacity students’ hostel and material laboratory for the Faculty of Environmental Studies in Uturu.
He said being committed to good cause was crucial for one to have a successful life adding that the state government had resolved to create conducive learning environment and was optimistic the provision of relevant facilities would motivate students to do their best.
In his remark, Prof. Uche Ikonne, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, expressed delight over the completion of the projects, adding: “This is part of capacity building.’’
Ikonne said the university’s core objective, which was centered on raising future leaders through provision of wholesome education, had been given a boost.
“The 300-bed capacity hostel is a TETFUND project, while the material laboratory built for the Faculty of Environmental Studies is a 2013 NEEDS assessment intervention fund project,’’ he said.
Also speaking, Mr Chukwunyere Onyenso, the SUG President, thanked the state government and school authority and expressed delight over the completion of the projects.
