Buhari’s achievements in Rivers: Wike takes war on truth to new heights, says Dakuku

The Director-General (D-G), Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr Dakuku Peterside, has taken a swipe at Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, for claiming that President Muhammadu Buhari has done nothing in the state.
Peterside, who was reacting to statements credited to the governor, wondered why Wike chose to feign ignorance over the giant strides of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government in Rivers State.
According to him, “I listened to Governor Wike’s lies that President Buhari has not done anything for Rivers
State and I wondered if there is no such thing as truth anymore. Wike ought to know that he is entitled to his opinion but not his own facts.
“It is obvious to the least discerning that Governor Wike who has since bidden farewell to real development has taken the war on truth to a new level. He knows that the Bodo-Bonny road is the biggest construction project going on in Rivers state today, and the N70 billion expansion of Afam power Project is on a progressive course. These are dividends of President Buhari’s zeal to revive moribund projects in the state.
“What of the Niger Delta regional hospital undertaken by the NDDC? What of the Ogoni cleanup project which was abandoned before now and report dumped on a shelf? President Buhari has revisited the coastal rail line project with assurances that work will commence once the budget is passed; work is near completion in the new Port Harcourt Airport Terminal, while the new international complex building will soon be commissioned.”
He disclosed further that President Buhari has directed the fixing of Elelenwo-Eleme section of the East/West road, which “Governor Wike collected money from companies operating in that axis but never fixed.”
The NIMASA boss noted that but for President Buhari’s human capacity, infrastructural development and social services intervention in the state, many more Rivers youth would have been jobless.
Recall that Rivers State chairs the unenviable list of states with the highest unemployment rate in Nigeria and that is because the Governor has since abandoned governance. Dr Peterside generously praised the interventions of the Federal Government, adding that the situation could have been worse if President Buhari did nothing for the state.
“Wike should at least acknowledge the President’s gestures. The good people of Rivers State are no longer gullible. Today, Rivers can boast of high profile appointees who are making the state proud. The governor should face the truth and liberate himself from hallucination,” he stressed.
