It was a colourful ceremony on Wednesday in Ondo State as Oba Aladelusi Ogunlade-Aladetoyinbo ascended the throne of his forefathers as the 47th Deji of Akure.
His predecessor, Oba Adebiyi Adesida, died about three years ago.
Amid traditional dancing, Aladetoyinbo, a United States (U.S.)-based industrialist, ascended the throne about 2:40pm and climbed the Omolore mud, located in front of the old palace, at 3.20pm with his first daughter by his side, to perform the last traditional rites.
Together with his wife, they acknowledged cheers from the mammoth crowd.
While speaking, he promised to work with the Governor Olusegun Mimiko administration to develop the state capital.
